I've searched (as much as able while mobile) and am curious if Scale also supports running from USB and mirroring the boot USB.

Also I read "...can run on any TrueNAS system with higher than 10GbE support." ...please expound on this please.

I have run it from USB for a while, so yes it is compatible :)

It might be wise to link where you get that quote from.
That quote only refers to TrueNAS systems (the pre-build machines) and it looks like the 10GbE is only used to clearly differentiate the product offerings, not because that is the feature that maters in this case ;-)

mirroring the boot pool is not in place at this time. not sure as to when it will be

Yes, I re-installed and mirrored at initialization.

Dunno. Last time I tried the os "data" partition mirrored but the boot partitions did not, so the second drive wasn't bootable. But that's been a while.. and course maybe that's normal never mirrored a zfs boot device. Time to test again :p

Haven't attempted to boot off just one yet but building in the installer appeared to work.
