My current setup is a basic Ubuntu server just running docker and I'd like to get more use out of it with TrueNAS server (TrueNAS scale for docker support.)

Is it possible to add drives to a TrueNAS server without wiping them? I've 2 x 4Tb drives full of data and no spare drives large enough to facilitate a transfer.

Is it just a case of manually mounting them from terminal, so I can then use them with a docker container?

On a VERY tight budget at the moment so can't pick up a +4Tb drive for the next few months, so stuck with my current hardware.

Depends on how they are formatted and what you intend to use the drives for.

Since TrueNAS Scale is still in "Alpha", which is very early days, I wouldn't suggest using it unless you are using it on spare hardware with data that doesn't matter.
In this very early phase of development, there could be massive changes yet before we get to "Release" and there could still be bugs that might put your data at risk. If you have a working OS, you might want to stay with it until your hardware situation improves.
