Seem to be having a run on disk issues!

This is a supremicro based NAS running the following
Code:
System Information

Build FreeNAS-9.10.2-U4 (27ae72978)
Platform Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31270 @ 3.40GHz
Memory 16327MB
Vol1 DEGRADED 0 0 0
raidz2-0

Has been working OK then console message stating disk had been removed which it hadn't.
The disk has failed such that the interface isn't being seen by any OS.

The question I have is this.
Do I just click replace then select new drive or do I need to do more?

Kind regards

The original question, however, stands. Do you have SMART tests scheduled? This would not have taken you by surprise, more than likely, had you had them scheduled. Do you have scrubs scheduled? Either/both of these things would almost certainly have given you ample warning that something wasn't right with the drive before it just dropped itself from the pool.

I recommend a SMART long test, for each spinning drive, at least monthly, if not every 2 weeks, and a scrub in between SMART long tests.

Short SMART tests are run on all disks every hour.

Scrub every 35 days.

Scrub every 35 days.
And that seems insufficient.

But don't swap the numbers, that'd be horrible.

One SMART short test per day and two scrubs per month should be fine.

...in addition to a regular long SMART test, maybe every week or two.
