Hello,

It seems that i don't have any hard drives.
Yes of course i have hard drives installed but they are not visible.
I have 2 4TB Seagate hard drives installed which are NTFS formatted.
For some unknow reason they are not visible in the setup.
If anyone knows what to do the get them visible, please let me know.

Kind regards,

Enno

Well, you can start by following the forum rules (which you said you read and agreed to when you signed yesterday, and which are linked in red up above in case you missed them), and providing quite a bit more detail. Some examples of the types of detail that would help: (1) Exact FreeNAS version, (2) detailed hardware information, (3) exactly what you've done, and (4) exactly what's happened.

Also, you can't use those hard drives as-is. You either need to copy off their data, reformat in FreeNAS, and copy back the data or format some other drives first, then import the contents of those drives to the formatted drives.

camcontrol devlist command on the cli will show you exactly what disk are being recognized by your system.

Detailed information:

FreeNAS Version 9.10
CPU AMD A6-7400K
Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-HD3
8 GB Kingston Memory 1333 MHz
2 4TB Seagate ST4000DM000 hard drives

What i have done is the following:

After not being recognized by the NAS i've reformatted the both drives in Windows 8.1 and installed them again in the NAS.
But they are still not visible.

Nowhere near detailed enough. What did you do on the NAS to look for them? What did you see? What were you expecting to see? You can attach screenshots if you want, though they aren't generally necessary.

And, as @SweetAndLow said, the output of 'camcontrol devlist' would be helpful. From the web GUI, you can click the Shell link on the left side, then type in that command.

If i do that i am getting < USB Disk 2.0 PMAp>. at schus1 Target 0 kun 0 (pass0, da0)
Or something like that.

As far as screenshots go, that is not possible.
I don't know how to make them.
Not on the tablet anyway.
It was always simultaneos press powerbutton and volume down but after the last firmwareupdate that doesn't work anymore.

Formatting them in Windows isn't any better than what you stared with. They need to be blank as though they were new from the factory.

There are numerous ways of doing it. The manual mentions Active KillDisk. You could boot from a gparted ISO and delete the partitions. There are other methods too.

If that's all the output you see then your drives are not being recognized by your motherboard. If you go into the bios do the disks show up?

Yes, in the BIOS the drives are recognized.

@gpsguy

Thanks for the information.
I've downloaded that program and installed it and burned a cd.
I'll try it tomorrow.

How are your drives connected to the motherboard? Try booting up a live Linux iso and see if the drives show up.

Since camcontrol didn't show your drives I suspect there is something wrong with your BIOS. Is it fully updated?

Yes, the BIOS is fully updated. It is version FC.
The drives are connected by sata-cables to the motherboard.
As from booting up from a Live Linux iso; that might be a bit difficult because i don't have a dvd-drive installed.
Or can it be on a USB stick?

Fdisk can remove the MBR and since you don't want to pull the data off them a quick format as fat32 would also work.
