So, 2 days ago, I formatted a new disk with 0 swap and created default zfs dataset as this disk is being used to create a backup of all the data using rsync task at 2AM on a daily basis:
Today, I noticed something strange activity on the disks.
It was reading about 100-200bytes constantly between 3-6AM
Also, 600bytes every minute for between 6-9AM.
Now this disk should not have any freeNAS related activity especially read. What could be causing this strange activity?
I had smart disabled and the disk to spin down after 30minutes to level1. I enabled smart to check the status this morning. Looks as if its the temperature sampling / logging period. How can I disabled this? I thought disabling smart on the disk would take care of this automatically.
