My new build X10SL7 has IPMI which is fantastic!

Not sure how to configure the IPMI tab in FreeNAS though so it will talk to it. Do I need to create a user in the IPMI and should it just be a case of entering the password and IP address. At the minute everything I've tried reports the message "IPMI Failed"

Thanks

I had looked in the manual first, but it didn't really help :D

I can access the IPMI via a web browser without doing anything in FreeNAS. I was assuming setting things up in FreeNAS would allow them to talk to each other. Maybe I'm misunderstanding how things work, but what's the point of just configuring things in FreeNAS if you can do it straight from a browser?

It's just for basic configuration. Mostly in case you have access to FreeNAS but not IPMI and need to change the IP address.

I have never configured anything for IPMI, it just works. But what does filling in that tab actually do? Does it configure a different IP for IPMI if needed (if it's orinal config is an IP not in the current subnet for example)?

EDIT: Rephrased the question a bit

Yeah, that's the idea, to configure IPMI networking.
