My server has a remote console (HP iLO) which I accessed the first time today. This includes a remove KVM console based on java. I could access the console and FreeNAS menu there. Very cool.
I stumbled across the IPMI setting in the FreeNAS network setting. In the documentation I found that this would enable a remote console access to the server. Well, this is what I have without FreeNAS anyway. There must be some added value to this feature within FreeNAS which I must be missing and which is not mentioned in the FreeNAS guide.
Is there any good reason why I should configure IPMI settings in FreeNAS?
