I saved a link to an article that describes the creation of windows CIFS shares and it was working great
for me. Recently i had to destroy all the data on my drives to gain access to the full drive which turned out
to be an issue with freenas not reporting it correctly according to another member.

Here is the link to the freenas article , this article has been changed in the last couple days and now i'm back to having sharing issues again. Does anyone have the old article that gives you the step by step method to creating a cifs share.

I had it working perfectly and was streaming video from plex and after 8 hours without changing anything in freenas it just stopped working and isn't linked to the videos anymore.

When i selected Freenas from network i saw my cifs share named "Media" and it's in that directory i copied my videos to and now when i go into the Media directory i don't see my videos anymore but do see another media directory and another and another .. and goes on forever.

The old version is archived here: http://olddoc.freenas.org/index.php/Windows_(CIFS)_Shares#Configuring_Local_User_Access. However, the new instructions achieve the same thing via the wizard, so something else is up or misconfigured.
Thanks for the link. Because I didn't use the wizzard the first time due to following the instructions in the link i tried to configure it by memory. Going by the old configuration guide i have the share working now. I had to destroy the dataset to stop the
echoing of Media subdirectories.
