So, I seem to be missing something. I run several pools in a variety of configurations in various locations no problem... Except when using snapshots on iSCSI targets. I have yet to figure out why but the snapshot command always returns an "out of space" value despite their being plenty of space on the volume.

I'm probably missing something rather simple here... what gives? Anybody have any ideas? This is quite annoying as no snapshots mean no replication which means no backups in that manner.

Are you trying to create a snapshot with the "zfs snapshot" command, or are you trying to set up a Periodic Snapshot Task? What is the exact error message? How much free space do you have in the pool?

How big are your zvols, and how big is your array?

If you don't have enough space to take a snapshot, then you'll get this warning. Since a zvol presents to ZFS like one big file, you have to have at least as much free space as the zvol.
