Hi

I previously created 2 zvols for my vms but i now need the space back but when i attempt to delete either of them i get the error message mentioning that the data set is busy, and this happens for both zvols, and the vm is stopped and i've restarted freenas and tried to delete but no luck. Is there anyway to avoid this error message and delet the zvol. Not only this but my vms have recently started freezing the system requiring a manual reboot, starting at 16% ram usage increasing to 81% of ram when using 4gb in vm on a 16gb machine.

My specifications are as follows
FreeNAS-11.2-RELEASE-U1
amd a8 7600
2x1tb wd red hdd
2 x 8gb corsair 1600mhz vengeance ram
430w psu

Many Thanks in Advanced

For the error message about the zvol that you cannot delete, I had the same issue and the way I had to resolve it was to shutdown the iSCSI service as I was connecting my zvol to my vmware.

If a services is using the zvol, it is pass a busy. So if you have any shares or services directly interacting with the zvol, you need to shut them down first and then delete the zvol.
