Here's an interesting short article comparing transfer speeds and resilvering time for various vdev configurations.

Tl;dr: For 4 drive vdevs, write speeds are nearly identical across vdev types. RAIDz1 resilvers in 75% of the time a 2x2 mirror takes. RAIDz2 is only 25% slower at resilvering than the mirror. Compression has no impact on resilvering speed.

It would be interesting to see how this scales to larger vdevs.

Hehe. I just responded to your other thread. That comparison does and doesn't add value. I wrote a fairly long comment on why it's not as useful as people would think. In fact, I would argue that it is probably better to not have people read that because it gives them information that, for the most part, is totally inappropriate for the vast majority of "real" installations and not just test environments.
