Here's an interesting short article comparing transfer speeds and resilvering time for various vdev configurations.
ZFS Resilver Speed Comparisons —Michael Dexter, CallForTesting.org
Tl;dr: For 4 drive vdevs, write speeds are nearly identical across vdev types. RAIDz1 resilvers in 75% of the time a 2x2 mirror takes. RAIDz2 is only 25% slower at resilvering than the mirror. Compression has no impact on resilvering speed.
It would be interesting to see how this scales to larger vdevs.
