You know, I've read so much about ZFS and RAIDZ that I thought I'd know the answer but this eludes me.
In my scenario I have four 2TB drives.
During Volume Creation I wanted to create one larger ZFS volume.
Setup: Select all 4 drives, select ZFS for file system, select Force 4K sectors.
Now I have the following available to me:
mirror, stripe, RAID-Z, RAID-Z2.
I understand mirror and RAID-Z2 (for the most part).
What is the difference between selecting stripe or RAID-Z. Is there no fault tolerance selecting stripe so it's not the same as a RAID5 but a RAID-Z is the same as a RAID5 because it offers a single drive failure?
I'm just so tired (being ill get you that way) that I can't think.
Thanks and I know this is a Noob type question.
