Long time lurker, so not sure if this would be the right section to post this.

Based on reading through various posts here and elsewhere I decided to get the above mentioned motherboard.

I am still playing around with it trying to decide how I want to build this, but the main issue is this

I flashed the LSI controller to IT mode and it all seems to be working fine except for one thing.

When it initializes at boot it will only list 1 drive out of the 4 that I have hooked up to it.
But if i go into the utility or have any os install it will show all 4 drives.

Would that be any issues?

Currently this is on the latest firmware from Supermicro v19

Thanks

You shouldn't be using v19 firmware. Firmware must match the OS drivers, and that means v16 for FreeNAS 9.2.1.x.

As for the card only showing one drive, I don't know. I don't have your board and I don't think anyone else has mentioned that problem. It could be a v19 thing though.

Don't flash the boot ROM, it's useless for IT mode unless you're booting from the card. You aren't, so spare yourself the complexity and skip the part where you write the boot ROM.

Forget it exists. Others did exactly that and everything just worked.

I will double check but i do not recall it asking if i wanted to flash the boot rom, i think it just did it.
i will see what it does when i go back to v16

Most tutorials have a step where you flash the boot ROM, but I can imagine some scripted flashers to just do the whole thing wholesale.

So I flashed it back to v16 and it does the same thing. it will only show 1 of the 4 drives.
I had used the instructions located here https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/supermicro-x10sl7-f.14105/page-6#post-81892
which says boot to UEFI Shell, go to usb drive, go to uefi folder and run SMC2308T.nsh

I looks like it is just cosmetic as all the drives do show up when I do a test install of windows or freenas or esxi or go into the actual configuration utility
