Hello, I just configured new server with X10SL7 using the onboard SMC2308 LSi controller with RAID 10. When launching MSM I noticed the drives are showing without dividing into spans.

You can notice the 4 drives are directly showed without dividing into 2 spans for each mirror, so it looks like RAID 0 but LSi MSM is identifying the array as RAID 10 and confirm through the web bios ? What is the fault tolerance in that case if one drive failed/degraded?

While in other RAID 10 using LSi 9260, each 2 drivers are divided into 2 spans with 2 drives in each span.

Where is the freenas in this scenario?

You shouldn't be running freenas on top of hardware raid, and I'm not sure what screenshot you are displaying here...doesn't look like freenas.

You are correct, it is not related to freenas, it is just a general question related to 2308 and RAID 10 configuration.

We don't support hardware RAID around here. Not on FreeNAS and much less on other OSes.

Can we get this moved to offtopic, before some naïve reader mistakes this for a good idea?
