SOLVED X10SL7-F alternatives (first build)

I've read a lot these last weeks about the inconvenients regarding this mobo and the Kingston memories. Since where I live (Buenos Aires, Argentina) the only ECC memory brand available is Kingston I'm in a bit a of a pickle. Also the Supermicro offer here is scarce so I do not have plenty of options :/

I'm building a 6x2TB (wd red) NAS with raidz2. Given the fact that the X10SL7-F is discarded I thought a suitable alternative could be the X10SLL-SF [1]+ LSI 9211-8i (yeah, the m1015 doesn't exist here either). The NAS usage won't be too intensive but I want to have good thoughtput (near 1Gbps per link). Seeing that the mobo can hold only 16GB I was wondering if that goal could be nearly achieved. I'll use a 1220v3 (we don't have the 1230v3).

I'll apreciate any feedback you could give me. I've learnt a lot reading the forums and I don't mind reading them even more (just in case a similar topic is somewhere over there and I didnt see it). Ty for your time =).

That's a very crummy board.

I'd suggest you try to get something from Asrock Rack, like the E3C224D4I-14S or the E3C224D4M-16RE. The former is a voodoo-shrunk X10SL7-F, the latter has an SAS3 controller plus an SAS3 expander for a total of 16 SAS3 ports and 6 SATA ports. They also have several other models.

I would rather use a mobo with 4 DIMM slots like the X10SLL-F, X10SLM-F, X10SLL+-F, X10SLM+-F. You don't need the LSI HBA to run only 6 HDDs, the Intel SATA ports are totally fine. The 1220 v3 is a good choice.

As for disks, in US and EU the 3TB variants are those with the lowest price per TB.

Yes, I thought the problem with the Kingston RAM was that they were not necessarily consistent with previously tested production. So they are no safer to use on the boards they were originally qualified for than on the boards where they are not mentioned.

Does crucial.com ship to Argentina - I realise this may lead to customs charges and delays? Even if not qualified explicitly by Supermicro, if they recommend a module for a Supermicro MB it is probably physically the same as one of the qualified Micron ones.

The 1.35V 8GB UDIMMs they recommend (the ones that end with DB) have in fact been verified by Supermicro, but only under the Micron brand - details are in the X10 RAM sticky.
