Hi guys,
little big problem, that I'd like to understand.

Two boxes:
New system: HP Gen 8 server, 2x8TB mirrored, 1 pool (4% used), encrypted, crypto hardware/CPU i3. FN 11.3U1/p6. 8GB ECC.
Old system: HP Gen 7 server, JBOD, 1 pool (95% used), disks striped, encrypted, crypto software/CPU AMD 2 cores (no AES-NI). FN 11.1U7. 8GB ECC.

Both: Dedup off, SMB is used. Identical settings, except I've overlooked something.

Problem:
The write performance of the new Gen 8 is ONLY about 50%, compared to the much older and slower G7.
The G8 is much faster by specs, disks are faster, and louder, so I can hear every block written. Performance is not that great anyway due to SMB.

ATime was on by default then, now it is off (which I want anyway).
Compression is lz4 on the G8, setting it to zle nor off doesn't make a difference. On the G7 it is off.
Only setting Sync=off is REALLY showing a difference. On the G7 it is Sync=standard.

Why is the writing performance that bad? When I tested the G8 first, on 11.3 last prerelease the write performance was better on the G8, as far as I recall.

What could be the problem, if there is one? Any help or advice is appreciated!

Tnx&rgds.
