Windows Xp Cannot connect to freenas shared files

Good Evening, newbie here, i have a question why is it, my windows xp pc cannot connect to freenas 11.2, but my windows 7 and 10, is working , and no problem accessing the file. before freenas 9.3 i dont have problem in accessing file via windows xp... but when i upgrade to freenas 11.2 my windows xp cannot connect to freenas anymore.. Please need your help guys..

Sounds like the "NTLMv1 auth" issue... have you ticked the box under services | SMB?

In that same place you may also need to check the box for "Enable SMB1 support" depending on what exactly your system is doing.

I believe Windows XP supports NTLMv2, but then again if you have Windows XP on a network there's probably not much point to a stronger auth protocl. :)

I think it does, but I wonder if the first attempt fails, does it just fall back to NTLMv1 right away...

I guess doing either a change of the NTLM settings in XP (https://support.symantec.com/us/en/article.howto54187.html) or changing FreeNAS to offer up NTLMv2, or both may get it across the line instead of just capitulating to enable NTLMv1.
