Hi,
I have been looking at the X10SDV-4C-TLN4F motherboard for my home server build. It will be running ESXi and two VMs. One for FreeNAS and one for Sophos. I will pass through an IBM M1015 HBA to the FreeNAS, and this will take up one and the only PCI-E slot on the motherboard.
The question is: Do I need another PCI-E slot to pass through a physical NIC to Sophos VM, or the on-board Ethernet ports can be passed through?
Which motherboard would you get in this scenario? I would like to stay with Xeon D motherboards to lower the electricity bill, and also because they can support 128GB memory.
