Weird ISP issue

My ISP uses EERO (v6.16.2-88) modem for 1gbps, and DHCP on my TrueNAS Core box is pointing at it. Every night around 2 am the TrueNAS interface crashes. Attempts to access the URL for the box hangs without connecting. I end up plugging in a console monitor and rebooting. The entirely separate 10gbps direct link to my local PC is unaffected.

EERO modems are a known issue for TrueNAS from what I've read.

I tried setting up a cron event at 4 am to reboot, but it's not triggering as far as I can tell. The UI isn't up on the 1gbps network in the morning, so the cron doesn't get sent? I tried shelling to /var/cron/tabs and "crontabs -e" a root cron setup, and it works. However, it's gone after the reboot.

Any suggestions? I'm running TrueNAS Core 13.0-U5.3

When you say your truenas DHCP is pointing at your modem?

So you are not using the DHCP server with your ISP's modem I presume then, and TrueNAS handles DHCP for your network? And your TrueNAS interface is set with a static IP?

When I'm saying that "...DHCP on my TrueNAS Core box is pointing at it." I am saying that I AM using the DHCP server with my ISP's (EERO) modem.

k,

My brain goes into over analytical mode sometimes trying to imagine every possible scenario!

Have you tried setting your TrueNAS with a static IP to see if it drops?

Can you reserve the IP in the EERO modem as well, just so nothing else gets assigned it? Whether set static or leave it as DHCP on TrueNAS.

What is running on your TrueNAS box at 2am? SMART test or Scrub and other tasks are some of the possibilities.
