VNC password not hidden

Hello,
I just ran into a weird issue when using the VNC display. I didn't know what I did wrong, now my passwords for VNC displays show in plain text. It looks like this

Perhaps I happened to trigger some key combination when typing in my password, but I couldn't find the settings for this. Passwords on other sites are normal. I tried another browser, VNC passwords also show in plain text, so I suppose this is not a browser issue. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I can confirm this: when connecting to a display of a VM, the password is displayed in cleartext. This should really be hidden!
