I've been playing with a VM running a Ubuntu hosting a Minecraft server. Everything was working great until today. When my daughter said she could not connect to the server, I opened a VNC session from FN and found it was at the install Ubuntu menu, like when I initially installed it. By default, it times out and runs the 'Try Ubuntu without installing' option. It's no longer booting to my Ubuntu installation on the VM. Is there something I'm missing? What would cause this, and can I recover without reinstalling everything?

Okay. Now I feel stupid(er). I plugged the USB drive, with the Ubuntu installation media, back into the system to copy some files to, not realizing the VM boot order included USB devices before the ZVOL. After the scheduled backup and restart it booted to the USB drive. Of course, when I restarted it manually, it did the same thing.
