Using SMB shares to host Hyper-V vhd's doesn't work in 11.1-U3 (works in 11.0-U4)

Hi there,

I tried updating from 11.0-U4 last weekend and my Hyper-V cluster stopped being able to access its files from the SMB shares. I'm wondering if this is a similar issue to one I had where Samba was not responding correctly to FSCTL_SET_COMPRESSION requests (see https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12144 and https://redmine.ixsystems.com/issues/16807).

I'm hoping I can track this problem down by looking at the versions and whether or not the patch was applied. Otherwise I'll have to spin up a VM of 11.1-U4 and breakout WireShark again. =(

I checked 11.0-U4 and it's running version 4.6.8-GIT-7a91926 of Samba. Does anyone know what version is being used in 11.1-U3 and above?

Run smbd -V at the command line, it will tell you what version of Samba.

try setting user password again for smb in u3, it fixed it for me.
