Using a USB LCD display

Hi,

I am using FreeNAS 8.0.1beta4 with 4 x Hitachi 3Tb HDDs in a HP Microserver. I also have a 5.25" LCD which connects via USB. Is there anyway I can get the LCD to work with this version of FreeNAS so that I can display some useful info such as remaining space, etc..?

Noeneel, it looks like it could be possible, there are drivers for FreeBSD which FreeNAS is based on. I don't think anyone here will be able to help you (I could be wrong). The other problem you might have is that FreeNAS doesn't allow you to use the free space on your flash drive to store your files, so free space that is available is very limited and needed by FreeNAS. Unless you are very comfortable with Unix, working from the command line, and probably rebuilding the kernel or resizing the FreeNAS image, I would say it would take a lot of work.
