Hope someone can help me. I am bit of a noobie... deadly with a little knowledge.

I have a NAS machine with Freenas 9.1 install with 2 2TB mirrored drives. (yes I know it is old but so am I. It is on my short list to upgrade) I am I use it to store my music on and shared file server. I had some electric work done and shut down the NAS. When I turned it on the error message was your system battery was low and would not boot via the USB stick. So I replaced the battery hoping that would fix my problem. Nope... It does not seem to boot from the stick. I had checked the health of the drives the day before when I shut down the system.

I now get this message-
Floppy diskette seek failure
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility
F1 FreeBSD
F2 FreeBSD
F6 PXE
Boot: F2######################## (etc.)

I believe I made a back of the config. when I had to change a bad drive in December. (xxxxxx-FreeNAS-9.1.0-RELEASE-x86 (21ef4b2)-20201103200621.db) Please tell me it is so.

Questions -
A - If I create a new USB stick with a clean version of 9.1, can I back up to the above file?
B - If so, how do I do that? Does it auto
C - Does it keep my data?
D - Once I get this back up on 9.1. I will update to the latest. Everything I have read, says do it steps. What steps should I do? I know it is a wide gap.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds right.

From System | General you can restore the config.

Does it keep my data?
Yes

Once I get this back up on 9.1. I will update to the latest. Everything I have read, says do it steps. What steps should I do? I know it is a wide gap.
You might need to hunt around a bit for the posts indicating the right steps.

Depends if you have jails also as there's a jail conversion step from Warden to Iocage between 9.10 and 11.2 somewhere.

You'll probably need to go to 9.3, then 9.10, then 11.x then 11.3 then 12.0
