Building a new FreeNAS box, but having no joy :-(

Specs are as follows:

Gigabyte B150M-D3H motherboard (updated bios to F21)
Intel G4400 CPU
16GB DDR4-2133 RAM
3x Seagate IronWolf 4TB NAS Drives
Corsair VS450 PSU
2x Transcend USB3.0 Jetflash 700 Flash drives for booting

Initial install was done with 9.10 ISO, ran fine. After updating in the GUI to 9.10.2, the problem popped up.

On first boot after update, it gets stuck at
Code:
Loading kernel modules:

Left it for half an hour but no change.

Has anyone got an idea what went wrong?

Did a reboot fix it? If not, can you select the previous version in the boot manager?

I did update. After it didn't reboot. I had to change the BOOT to new version. However now I can't access webpage. I use 10.0.1.100. I can ping it but not webaccess. Plugins seem to be running.

I am having the same issue, try to activate fails. So I rebooted and tried again, telling me to activate will not activate so I am running a verify. But think I am going to hold off for an updated fix for this. By the way I was current with my updates.

Having same issue. Applied the update 9.10.2 manually in the boot tab -> rebooted -> now I can't access the web interface at all.
Any workarounds? :S

Edit: Fired up IPMI and force booted on 9.10.1-U4 instead, aand we're back. I'm a bit hesitant to attempt the 9.10.2 boot again though.

I rolled back also.

That's interesting. Can you create a report at bugs.freenas.org and post the issue number here? It would be useful to include a copy of ifconfig from the working BE in the bug report.

Previous boot environment boots fine.

I removed the flash drive, and inserted it in an old Core2 laptop. it boots up successfully.
Makes me think there might be an issue with my new box's hardware.

Can it be the Intel B150 chipset? ....and surely the USB 3.0 issues have been resolved that has been present previously.

Any ideas?

Slight aside, but I setup a new box with similar hardware on Friday (different MB, but B150M chipset and G4400 CPU) with 9.10.1-U4 and everything has been fine. Based on the problems you seem to have with 9.10.2 and several others seem to have, I think I'm going to watch from the sidelines a bit.

I'm another with a 9.10.2 problem. It did reboot into 9.10.2, but wouldn't reboot again. In the meantime it terminally screwed up my Time Machine shares. Can't say much about the latter as I accepted the Macs' kind offers to do new backups having rebooted into 9.10.1-U4 via IPMI. But it doesn't take much to spook Time Machine. It is probably possible to resurrect the existing Time Machine shares by editing files in the sparsebundles, but I didn't try. Someone done a bug report yet?

Guys .. I am new to freenas and not very good with computer in general. I did the upgrade to 9-10-2 without backing up :( ... Now I can't access the GUI. The box is running, but I can't access it. My router doesn't see it even though it's running. Should I force shut down? How do I roll back? Do I just recreate the USB stick? Thanks in advance.

Just to follow this up, after doing some reading of bug reports that seemed to indicate that other were having success, I decided to plow ahead with the upgrade knowing I had backups in hand. I did do a scrub of the boot drive first to ensure everything was clean, then did the upgrade. Once I started, it took 5-10 minutes to complete and everything booted back up successfully with no issues, including access to the web GUI.

Finally got it to work, rebooted delete 9-10-2, then went and checked for updates. Ran updates and it stuck and 60% again, reboot back to 9.-10-1-u4 and ran updates again same thing happened stuck at 60% left it for a while, nothing happened. Went to another computer in the house and did check update, reported to activate it. I did not activate but clicked on apply update and presto ran through and updated perfectly finally.

Just built my first FreeNAS the day Kris posted Corral was being withdrawn, and yet had a really hard time getting any version of FreeNAS to work with my hardware. But 9.10.1u4 worked without any issues twice, the first time I made the mistake to update to 9.10.2u2
