Hi there,

I am trying to upgrade a rather old piece of hardware which works as a backup server from 9.10.2-U6 to 11.1-U6. After the update the boot process hangs with the following error message
Code:
...
Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
cpuid = 4; apic id = 04
Fault virtual address		= 0x84
...

After power cycling the machine and switching backup to 9.10.2-U6 the machine boots up totally fine. Is something like a hardware incompatibility?

Hardwarespecs:
FUJITSU SIEMENS PRIMERGY RX330 S1
Board: FUJITSU SIEMENS D2440
Dual Socket 4 Core AMD Opteron with 32GB ECC RAM

Were you able to resolve this or determine if the hardware was incompatible?

Hi dlavigne,

no unfortunately I couldn't resolve this until now. My next try will be Installing a fresh version of 11.1-U6 and trying to boot that.

Yes I used the GUI to change from the 9.10 to the 10.1 train.
