I have been on the 9.3 BETA train for a few weeks, and now I am trying to switch to 9.3 STABLE.

Specifically, I am trying to update from BETA-b63bac5 to the latest stable, which is base-os-9.3-CURRENT-f35d46c, FreeNASUI-9.3-CURRENT-f35d46c, and freeness-pkg-tools-9.3-RELEASE-44f2ca1.

The system downloads the packages, but seems to hang on installing the base-os. I've left it for about 15 minutes, and there is no CPU activity on the server. I am able to cancel it by hitting the "X" at the top of the upgrade window.

I'm not sure what else to check -- any ideas? Thanks!

Remind me, how far back is BETA-b63bac5 (e.g. last couple of days or a few weeks ago)? If it's in the last few days, it is worth creating a bug report. Otherwise, there were some updating bugs a week or so back so a fresh install should fix it.

It's less than a day -- I applied the last update in BETA that bumped it up to 9.3 RELEASE, and then I saw this latest one in the stable train. I'll post a bug report then.

I was perusing the list of issues and I believe my problem may be due to not having any space on my boot partition (https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/6975). I tried searching through the docs, but it's not clear to me how I can free up space on the boot partition. Any pointers? Am I off track?

EDIT:
Not sure if this is correct but when I run zfs list -r -t all freenas-boot, this is my output:

So in fact, I did run out of space on my boot device (it was a 4gb flash drive, not 8gb as I had originally thought).

To free up space, I went to the System -> Boot tab, and then removed old boot environments. After I freed up about 1gb, I was able to successfully install the update.

I'd recommend you buy an 8GB stick at your next opportunity to avoid this problem in the future. ;)
