No, you don't have a 3 way mirror.

What you have is a variation on what I guessed in reply #7. Somehow or the other, you created a mirror with the 1TB drive and striped it with the other drives. Since the second mirror (mirror-1) is missing it's mate, the vdev is degraded. And, since it was striped to the pool, the volume is also degraded.

So are all 3 drives mirrored to give me the 2.6TBs, but there is an issue somewhere?

Yes, backup everything and start over. Create the first volume and mirror it (like you did originally). For the 1TB drive, add a new volume (don't extend the original one - that's where you went wrong).

Sorted!

Reading geeky guides and learning command prompts shouldn't be required to turn some hard drives into a network storage space.

Thanks for the support gpsguy. Glad there are people like you in the world.

The intention with FreeNAS isn't that you have to immediately go learn the command prompt. FreeNAS is designed for people for whom the command prompt, SSH, etc are already core skills. FreeNAS is a geeky tool. Reading its geeky guide is expected. There's a very low tolerance in these forums for answering questions already outlined in the official user guide.

That said, one does not need the command prompt to set up/add drives to a functioning FreeNAS box. If you're using the command prompt, you're doing it wrong. Even fixing most issues is done in the GUI, and not at the command line. However, the command line is helpful for other basic tasks, such as checking the status of things. Things like "zpool status" and "zpool list" are basic "step 1" tasks one is asked for in any troubleshooting session, especially on these forums by regular people volunteering their time for free. If running these commands or even using the command line is a foreign or difficult task for someone, it needs to be questioned whether FreeNAS is the proper tool for them.
