I have two machines running FreeNAS. One of them is only a few weeks old, and I've never done anything with jails or plugins on it. Both are running 11.1-U2.

When I try to install any of the plugins, I get the error:
Code:
ERROR: missing files
cannot open 'MirrorPool/jails/.warden-template-pluginjail': dataset does not exist
find: /mnt/MirrorPool/jails/.warden-template-pluginjail: No such file or directory
ERROR: Failed to create ZFS base dataset
]]

When I try to create a new jail, it just sits there for a long time and nothing happens.

On one of the installs, I tried reverting back to 11.1-U1 but nothing changed.

On the new install, I don't have the dataset it's referring to:
Code:
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
MirrorPool 8.01T 4.28T	88K /mnt/MirrorPool
MirrorPool/.system 704M 4.28T	96K legacy

SSDPool/Scratchdisk 86.1G 833G 86.1G /mnt/SSDPool/Scratchdisk
freenas-boot 2.06G 229G 176K none
freenas-boot/ROOT 2.05G 229G 136K none
freenas-boot/ROOT/11.1-U2 2.05G 229G 1.10G /
freenas-boot/ROOT/Initial-Install 8K 229G 971M legacy
freenas-boot/ROOT/default 276K 229G 971M legacy
freenas-boot/grub 7.82M 229G 7.82M legacy

So I tried running warden template create -nick pluginjail -tar http://download.freenas.org/jails/11/x64/freenas-pluginjail-11.0-RELEASE.tgz but that didn't help.

Network is fine - I'm able to ping google.com from both install.

Any ideas?

Do you have the default gateway and DNS set up in the network configuration.

Also hardware does matter in troubleshooting so it needs to be posted.

Also here is what creating a jail looks like:

Says "Dataset does not exist" in the error.....

Go check your settings for the jail and correct it. Probably should start with /mnt/xxxxxxx

What settings? The only place I see to specify location is under Jails -> Configuration and that information is correct. In the example I posted, I had created a new dataset at /mnt/SSDPool/Jails and pointed the jail configuration to it. .warden-template-standard did not already exist, but I thought it was created automatically. In the past, I have never had to create any templates in order to create jails.

Figured this out. IPv6 stopped working on my ISP side, although it was still handing out IPs which FreeNAS was attempting to use for downloading jail and plugin data.

Pings from within the terminal looked normal as I wasn't specifying ping6.

Disabled ipv6 on FreeNAS and everything started working again.
