Been working on this the better part of the day. I have read posts, watched videos but just can't seem to get it working.

Setup: Lenovo TS130, 16GB ECC RAM, OS - CentOS 6.8, FreeNAS is running on a VirtualBox VM (I'm doing a test drive).

Output from testparm:

# Global parameters
[global]
dos charset = CP437
server string = FreeNAS Server
lm announce = Yes
nsupdate command = /usr/local/bin/samba-nsupdate -g
logging = file
max log size = 51200

panic action = /usr/local/libexec/samba/samba-backtrace
pid directory = /var/run/samba
disable spoolss = Yes
load printers = No
printcap name = /dev/null
time server = Yes
map to guest = Bad User

store dos attributes = Yes

directory name cache size = 0
dos filemode = Yes
acl allow execute always = Yes

create mask = 0666

[asus]
path = /mnt/vol1/asus
veto files = /.snapshot/.windows/.mac/.zfs/
read only = No
vfs objects = zfs_space zfsacl aio_pthread
zfsacl:acesort = dontcare
nfs4:chown = true
nfs4:acedup = merge
nfs4:mode = special

[backup]

I can see CentOS shares from a Win 10 Pro PC. I can see and access the FreeNAS shares from the CentOS server/host.

I have rebooted everything multiple times. It just not showing up from the Windows machine.

TIA

PS taking a break to get something to eat. Been at this most of the day and I'm starved, LOL!!

Check the Virtualbox network settings for the FreeNAS VM and make sure it's set up to attach to the host's NIC in 'Bridged Adapter' mode?

Sorry, this is not a FreeNAS issue.

I logged into my media server running Win 10 Pro and boom!! There was the share.

Must be something mis-configured on this machine

Gawd!! I hate Windoze!!

Happy to report I can now map the drive/share. Still doesn't show up in the 'Network' on this machine.

I'm whipped!!

Next test, getting rysnc to do backups!!

Have owncloud working but I need full system backups.
