SOLVED Ubuntu VM - "System BootOrder not found. Initializing defaults"

I have created an Ubuntu VM to run PiHole on, however after each server restart it doesn't start automatically. You have to go VNC to see the message:

System BootOrder not found. Initializing defaults.
Creating boot entry "Boot0002" with label "ubuntu" for file "\EFI\ubuntu\shimx64.efi"

after which it starts booting.

I have read some threads online that I should copy the files from /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu to /boot/efi/EFI/BOOT but that didn't work for me.

Can you please advice?

Which FreeNAS version? Is the Delay VM Boot until VNC Connects box checked for the VNC device?
