Hi guys... FreeNAS 11.0, running on an HP 8300 w/ i7 10GB RAM, and Ubuntu 16.04 VM... for some reason, the Ubuntu VM doesn't actually start unless I log into it through VNC... Has anyone else encountered this issue, is there a fix... or is this by design?

You must turn off 'wait to boot' option from the VNC device.

Don't worry, you're not the first to ask. Maybe FreeNAS should have disabled this option by default to cause less user confusion.

Ubuntu Server is shell, Are you sure you didn't install that?

I'm was using the desktop version, right now I deleted the VM so I cannot check anything.

In order to boot, I needed to type exit, then go to recovery and select the right file and the machine would boot up. But for some reason it didn't boot up normal.

Thanks. I tried the instructions but didn't work, in the end I tried something similar and it was working. Now my ubuntu is starting up normal.
