Hello guys,

I had a perfect working freenas machine, till this morning.
I had a supermicro IPMI card extra, and tried to put it in the machine.
this did strange stuff, like resetting bios, also, when it was in, I could not go in to bios.
it said, ' press del to run bios' , but pushing del didm't do anything.
OK, I desided to remove the IPMI card again, and continu like before.
After putting the bios settings back, I boot freenas , but now, it says,
'no configured interfaces were found try to do it manually'
What? nothing is changed?
So now I'm stuck...
Can someone help me?

thanks!

So does it show any network interfaces available if you try to configure them?

Hi,

no,
If I try to do this, it says, choose a network configuration,
but under this line, there are no other lines out of which I can choose...

Impressive. Maybe you managed to hose up your network interfaces. Try powering down the machine, then wait a bit, then turn it back on and see if any network interfaces are identified by the BIOS.

I just tried this, but I don't really know where in the bios I should find this. I don't see LAN or something like that anywhere...
Also, what caught my eye, the little leds at the lan ports, they are not lit up, I'm not 100% sure if they were before, so I don't know if this can help you...

Sounds like your internal NIC got tuned off. Might want to reset your BIOS to defaults and reset your SATA to AHCI. You should have power on your NIC port when you plug an active cable in meaning it's plugged into a switch on the other end.

What's it say on the console? It should say "You may try the following URLs to access the web user interface" and then give one or more. If not, try a reboot. If still not, there might be other things to try, but if your configuration is simple you might want to try a reset to factory defaults and a reboot.

I think I allready did a reset with the previous problem, so I can try again...

So,
I did the reset of the freenas server,
but nothing changed.
I get an IP to navigate to, but when I do, I can't access the gui...
I think the server doesnt have an internet connection,
when I try to update, an error comes up, and in the list of used ip's I can see on the site of my service provider, the provided ip ins't there.
Also, pinging to the freenas server is not possible.
other options?

I'm confused. You say you can't get to the web GUI, but then also say when you try to update you get an error... So which is it? You can get to the web GUI and can't update or you can't see the web GUI at all?

The site of your service provider?

Are you referring to your router?

In the interface you see when you put a monitor on the freenas server directly, one of the 14 options is update, it's there that it's not working.

my service provider provides a web page for stuff like that, also port forewarding is done here. But normally, indeed, you would see it on your router.

Uh. This sounds like a router to me.

Have you tried to use the 'console shell' option and tested if you can ping or resolve DNS?

What troubleshooting have you done except for unplugging things?

OK,
it looks like the problem is something else, I can't access the web gui on my laptop,
but I just tried on another pc, and there I can access it.
strange, why would this be?

How can this be? my laptop is working perfectly for everything else...

What other services do you have on your local network that your laptop is able to access? (That's the only meaningful definition of "everything else" here.)

"access the internet" is definitely *not* a service on your local network.

You have a hypervisor on your local network?
