TrueNAS Scale with OpenVPN

I set up OpenVPN in TrueNAS Scale Local Access is ~100MB/s capped by only 1gigabit NICs, and I am able to access the files from outside the network but it is pretty slow averaging around 3-5MB/s. The network the server is sitting on is 1Gbps and the network I am accessing it from remotely is 300Mbps I am only downloading at 3-5MB/s and upload around 2MB/s. Anyone have any tips on how to set this up to make it run faster?

I am running it on a TCP protocol, could not establish connection on UDP. I am using the motherboard ethernet port which has a 1Gigabit port.
Authentication Algorithm: SHA1 (160 bit digest size)
Cypher: AES-256-CBC (256 bit key, 128 bit block)
Compression: none
Protocol: TCP

I was not able to establish connection with wireguard for some reason. does the speed of a DDNS play a role in speed? I am currently using one hosted by my router.

I doubt DDNS impacts bandwidth... just latency for connection set-up.

I’ll bet a ham sandwich that a lot of ISPs are throttling this sort of traffic on their residential connections as soon as they can detect it. Remember the bit in the TOS prohibiting server use?

I have two machines connected via wireguard tunnel on 400 down / 50 up Mbit/s connections per DSL report speed testing and the best I get is maybe 1.35MB/s. All traffic runs within the ISPs network (Comcast), etc.
