Truenas scale invalid CSR on NOIP

I am trying to use noip's certificate signing for my home server. I generate a CSR on truenas scale and then when I go to submit it to noip it tells me that the CSR is invalid.

I should note that noip asks me which server I am using when I submit the CSR. there are some 30 options and I tried all of them. including a generic "other". None of them worked.
I conformed to their requirements in generating it (sha256 and 2048 length).

Any idea how to go about making this work?
Actually, what is the certificate signing program used by truenas scale? is it apache server?

Thank you, but that thread relies on him already being able to generate the noip signed certificate and having trouble installing it
I am stuck at an earlier step, I am unable to get a CSR to noip to generate the certificate in the first place
