TrueNAS as a tool for developers?

So I started working in a "poor" startup as a python dev.
I got a Lenovo i3 8ram (2 allocated for swap) Ubuntu was one of the only one that made it work properly.

Having docker containers up with my ide, browser tabs and terminal running stuff in the background - would expect it to crash honestly.

I thought of using my trueNAS machine to distribute the payload and make things more comfortable.

How would you use your trueNAS in this case?

I usually use portainer to handle my docker services. I thought of syncing the local portainer with the remote truenas, or maybe just having a VM with all my stuff there.

It currently requires a "hack" to make it work, but there's some effort to have it reinstated as "included"...
