The next version of TrueCommand is now available! This version brings a lot of new functionality, as well as streamlines existing functionality and allows the system to scale up to several hundred NAS connections now.

One of the more exciting features is the ability for TrueCommand to backup NAS configuration databases, either automatically when a config change on the NAS is detected (11.3+) or manually (11.2+). TrueCommand also has the ability to "restore" these configurations to one or many NAS's that are registered within TrueCommand and is the first taste of the new cluster-management features that we are working on for future versions of TrueCommand. Please note that this functionality requires a license from iXsystems before it is enabled. Trial licenses are available if you contact truecommand-sales@ixsystems.com

Also note that 2 updates are required to move from the 1.0 train to the 1.1 train. There is a minor 1.0-U2 update waiting on the 1.0 release train which will apply some minor changes to the update system and automatically enable the 1.1 update train for you.

  • in the upgrade from u2 to 1.1 the list of what it is downloading keeps vanishing (may have done it 1.0 ->U2 but I didn't check it)
  • Services/Jails/VMs don't seem to fully load (11.3 nightly and 11.2 u5) so a step back

  • The reporting on projected disk use are working better

Well that's odd, a refresh and the whole UI changed and the above now works - I'm not sure why a second UI re-load would be required to load the new interface

Thoughts on the UI: There is still too much wasted space, and UI elements don't expand to fill the space

There was a bug in the old 1.0 UI where the "refresh" button on the reboot screen after an update was not properly wiping the browser cache - leaving the web UI using a mixture of old/new versions in memory. That has been fixed in 1.1, but will not be exposed until there is another update pushed out after 1.1.

As you noticed, a simple browser refresh (F5) after doing the updates will remove all the old UI bits from your cache and ensure it is using the newer version of the UI completely.

I only have two FreeNAS boxes (17 drives total), but I'm really liking being able to see both systems in the dashboard, and only having to login once to view both. Looks good.

Where's the download link? It isn't in the blog post, it isn't in this post. If I go all the way to the end of the documentation, I get a link to https://www.ixsystems.com/truecommand/download/, requiring mandatory name/email/company/country (really?) before it will download. Seriously?

I'll also note that that page refers to a nonsensical "SSL signature file" and "SSL Public Key":

I assume these should be "PGP" instead.
