Transmission plugin does not appear in the GUI. I cannot access it from the browser either. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

Youre running a lot of plugins with not a lot of memory. That doesnt nec essarily mean thats your problem but it may very well be.

Can you start the transmission service from the jail cli? service transmission start

When I do that, it says transmission already running.

I removed the sickrage and couchpotato plugins, and transmission appears immediately in the gui.
Is this any way to know for sure if this is a memory issue? I also noticed the gui to be sluggish with the four plugins. I was under the impression 8gb of ram would be plenty.

8gb is the minimum for just a basic filer. You start installing plugins and the memory requirements will increase. The issues you are describing sound a lot like the sort of strange things that happen due to a lack of memory. Unfortunately it's hard to quantify how much more memory is needed based on how many and what plugins you install. Usually when people start adding to a basic FreeNAS install they normally go to 16GB to be safe but that doesn't always guarantee that you won't still have issues.

Personally I prefer creating a standard jail and installing/configuring the services manually.
Using FreeNAS plugins was giving me some random issues too.

most of the time if those icons are missing or the Plugins>Installed tab is loading slow it means networking between the plugin's jail and the FreeNAS webui is not working properly.

What I always recommend is disabling VIMAGE for your plugin jail, assign an interface to the jail, and restart the jail. This is required in my particular setup because I have multiple interfaces defined, but it can help others because it makes jail networking more reliable.

Yes...those are some of the symptoms that I am experiencing. Would you please let me know how to do this? This is my first time using FreeNAS.
