Hello,

So, my disk (SSD drive) with my system dataset Pool is out of order.
The trueNAS system boot wihout this disk, but all the sharing and probably other thing will not work.

What is the best and simple way to have my system working again ?

I try to repair the disk all this week-end, but no way for this time. So the disk was given to a repair shop, to try again, but i think it's dead.
Is there a way to rebuild the System Dataset Pool without this disk ? (with a new disque).

My goal is to recover my system, and the access to the sharing pool as soon as possible, to recover, and copy the data.

Best regards

You can see, the system is online, without the System data pool. (there was only one ssd hard disk for this pool, probably an error)

Just move the system dataset (pool) to the other pool. You don't need the data in the system dataset - its mostly reporting and such
Or move it to the boot-pool if the boot pool is SSD and mirrored

If you are AD connected you will probably need to disable AD on a temporary basis.

Thanks for the answer. So a will create a mirrored boot pool with SSD and i try to move the system dataset on it. I let you know if it works

Sorry for the post before. So i just export/disconnect system data set pool with export disconnect button. The system data set pool was transfered to SoundHeritage_Nas automaticaly. A reboot, and that's fine. All the sharing was again online, with the good sharing permision. So thank you for your answer.

I will add a secondary disk for the boot-pool (only one), because it was fail too !!! But a copy was donne successfully by chance. There will secure the TrueNas boot system.

Just another question : Where is the best place for The system Data set pool
On the boot pool, or to another pool ? Or never mind ?

If the boot pool is SSD's then put it there. Otherwise on any pool where it won't bother you. If you are trying to sleep HDD's then do not put it there

Exactly that. Also the boot pool is preferably cheap consumer SSD rather than HDD in my opinion.

Sorry, I don’t get it. You say we shouldn’t put the system dataset on an HDD. But why? Because it wouldn’t go to sleep? By “Not putting any HDD to sleep” I meant, that I am not putting any HDD to sleep. They are always spinning. So you would say in this case it is okay to put the system dataset on an HDD?

IF you are someone who tries to power down his HDD's when they are not being used then putting the system dataset on such a pool would prevent any chance of the disks sleeping. Otherwise put the dataset anywhere you want
