I've been running this config for a while, and I thought I'd share my dust-free solution, and the results thereof. These results are from my offsite backup server.
I put it in a plastic bin. With no ventilation.
I know, I'm a horrible abusive monster who should be given a restraining order from silicon. :D
Now granted, there's about 4x the air space in the plastic bin that the case takes up, and the system is run in a basement which stays between 60-70F year round, but it's still basically static air. The cables are routed in through the lip, but the lid still closes completely over the cables, and after 1.5 years, still no appreciable dust in the system, which leads me to conclude there is negligible air movement into and out of the bin.
Temperatures at idle.
Temperatures after 3.5 hours of scrubbing, so probably stable worst-case temps (50-60% CPU load because Celery)
After 1.5 years, no hardware failures (save for USB drives, but that is a problem I've been fighting for over a year on my home system as well)
Feel free to tell me how wrong I am for being lazy in this way. :p
