I just swapped out the I3 motherboard I had in my system for the one in the thread title. No other hardware changes. From everything I read, it should boot fine since all the pertinent information is on the hard drives.

It gets to a point and reboots with the last line reading Stopping CPU X .... X is different every time.

I would hate to have to rebuild the OS from ground up because I have put a lot of work into getting it running the way I like it.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Any ideas what might be causing the issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you saved your config before this major upgrade?

You wouldn't need to. Worse case scenario is re-install the same FreeNAS version you were running and restore your config.

The boot drives? The data pool is safe, for sure.

Post your entire configuration, so the folks here can better help you.

Well, it appears the issue was related to a NIC card I had inserted in the old motherboard that I had not transferred over. Once I put that back in, it booted to the main menu, then all I had to do was reconfigure it and the system came up fine. I will probably reconfigure the system to use the onboard NIC port and then remove the card. Hopefully, that will not cause a problem.

I would like some advice on my next upgrade, though. I currently have two 1GB drives in the system setup as striped. I have gotten four 3GB drives that I am going to setup in two mirrored VDEVs.

Is there a way to add these to the current pool, migrate the data from the two striped drives, and then retire the striped drives from the system? Any guides that are available?

Thanks!

Yes...I saved my config. 3TB ... oops.

When I create the new pool, it will obviously have a different name. Will the system be able to find the jails that move over automatically or should I shut down the jails when I do that and adjust their mount points before bringing them back online?

Thanks!
