I'd say so. The motherboard is a X11DSC+. Make sure that the HBA(s) is (are) in IT mode. I've seen a few comments on staying away from Seagate drives and to stick with WD (Red) or HGST NAS drives.

It is on the forums and other places on the number of drives per ZFS pool.

I have seen some of those reviews of Seagate aswell... However my supplier has seen recently that the Seagate's are holding and similar systems, where WD etc is failing more often.
These are SEAGATE3.5",16TB,7.2K RPM,SATA3,512E/4KN (EVANS,256MB Cache) disks.

Is there a limitation on FreeNas?
I believe HA etc is not included where it is in TrueNAS.

I was in the process of updating my response when I was called away:

It seems you are right on HA not being available with FreeNAS. That seems to be a TrueNAS offering. See https://www.ixsystems.com/blog/freenas-vs-truenas/. It is a little dated but probably still relevant.

The issue with some Seagate drives was firmware related not drive failures. It has not been publicly acknowledged and the firmware fixes are not publicly available.

This video - also somewhat dated - from iX Systems is also a good explanation of the difference between the two: https://youtu.be/wWyFddha7t0
