I've been buying Crucial RAM for many and have never had a problem. A lot of Forum users, whether in the US or Internationally, use Crucial too.

Kingston has done some dodgy things in the past.

Can you elaborate? :) Why is it preferrable?

Agree with @gpsguy

Crucial is Micron. They make the stuff.

I've ordered the Crucial now, will be here on Monday.

If I create a mirror of 2x2TB, is it possible to add a full disk, then add a second empty one? Otherwise I need to make plans how to move all this data

Yes, make your mirror. Extend it with a stripe.

Later you add the new disk to the stripe with the command line, converting it to a mirror

Note: a stripe has no redundancy, and if that disk fails you lose your pool.

Stick with 9.10, also have a backup drive. ZFS RAIDz is not a reason to not have backups of ur datasets.

Looks like the right steps to me.

The tricky part is formatting the disk

on the first cmd I get:

$ gpart create -s gpt /dev/ada1
gpart: geom 'ada1': File exists

edit: got it, had to delete partitions and destroy first
