I have been trying to make some storage folders for my torrents for a bit now and cant seem to get it. I would just use defaults but i cant access the folders via share on windows.

Right now on my ZFS drive i have the following structure.
/mnt/ZFS
/mnt/ZFS/jails

I would like the following
/mnt/ZFS
/mnt/ZFS/jails
/mnt/ZFS/Torrents
/mnt/ZFS/Torrents/Downloading
/mnt/ZFS/Torrents/Completed

Now i made the folders but how do i tell transmission and the jail to use those folders? Every time i think i have it and try a torrent i get no permissions.

"EDIT" i tried downloading something with default settings and also getting permission denied with default also.

you mounted those into your transmission jail? if not transmission has no access to them. this is covered in the docs.

also I recommend you don't make separate datasets for torrents/complete and torrents/downloading. I'd make these folders under your torrents dataset instead. the way torrents process this would save you read-write-remove operation, instead it'd be a move operation (cause they're on the same virtual filesystem).

the transmission user needs permissions to write into whatever folder you specify. either make the folder owned by the transmission user, or relax the folder's permissions to 777.
