Hello everyone,

I've a question regarding truenas. I want to set a static ip adres for truenas (with DHCP it's on 192.168.50.246):

But whenever i do this, my jails won't seem to start anymore? Am i forgetting something?
I've searched the forums, but didn't find a solution yet...

Best regards,

Most of the time, when networking works with DHCP but not with a static IP it means that you did not configure the network parameters correctly. The most common error is failing to set the DNS server appropriately.

There are two ways to achieve your goal:
1) You can reserve the IP address in your router and leave TrueNAS set to DHCP - this will cause your router to assign the same IP address to the server whenever the system or your network is restarted.
2) You can set the parameters yourself for a static IP address. Just make certain you set ALL the required parameters.

If you are not familiar with networking, but want to try #2, I would initially set the system for DHCP and then look at all the network parameters set by the system. You can get a good feel for what the values should be. It would also help to read up on basic networking.

One caveat with #2... any static IP you set manually should be outside the DHCP range specified on your router. Otherwise, there might be issues.
