I just built a FreeNAS Server and copied a SQL Database Backup file. The file size is around 242GB whereas on FreeNAS its consuming only 37.2GB (Size and size on Disk). I tried copying same file for 2 times but the results were same. Is it due to some compression ? Can anyone assist regarding this ?

The default ZFS configuration in FreeNAS includes LZ4 compression for your datasets. If the SQL DB is mostly empty, or full of highly compressible (text) data, then this isn't unexpected. Enjoy the space savings. :)
