Special vdevs for metadata - Intel DC S3610's?

I've tried reading up on this, but there is very little information out there. Or I'm just missing it

I am building a new system with three mirrored vdevs in a pool for general storage which I want to be fast

I've heard something about being able to have a Special vdev for metadata. Is this is a good idea, and can I use some 800GB Intel DC S3610's? I have three of them spare with no use
