Posting this in Freenas as I believe the problem may be at the os level and not the plugin,

Both plugins installed, but I can have one or the other started. If sabnzbd is started I can not start Sonarr and visa versa. IF I uninstall one, there is no problem with the other. Power down and restart of server results in a scenario of what I believe to be who got there first.

There is no problem starting either if the other does not exist. They are in separate jails, and both Web GUI will function if it got started. This is why I believe there may be an underlying common thing that both are reaching for.

I've been at it for 15 hours, and it's time to ask for help, nether program seems to have a problem, so I don't think asking in their communities would necessarily help.

One more note, with both installed and one of them unable to start, when I click on the installed plugins tab it take quite some time to display. By removing whichever will not start, the list snaps up promptly.

Thanks

When both are installed, do they by any chance end up with the same IP address?

Thank you for the response Robert.

That is the first thing I checked, as my gut feel said they were fighting over something. Before posting, I even fired off an IP scanner on the local lan to get an inventory and make sure it was not in Freenass or out. Ip for sonarr was .23 and Sabnzbd .25 They were both running on their default ports. Inventory of lan showed nothing near them.

Search as I may, after 18 hours I could not find out a solution or how to delete and flush a plugin/jail for a clean install. I started computer science in the 80s and was rolling fortran code into basic between a VAX/VMS and a 286/DOS pc (I wish I had saved it, cost $2000 in 80s money because I got the optional 1 meg of memory and the 500 meg hard drive, but do still have my Motorola brick phone ;). And worked my way up to IT manager at a couple of casinos. But I digress, I do know that at some point there is a diminishing return on repairing the car/software or starting over. It's just that my experience is Windows based.

I see an update is available for Sabnzbd, but unlike other plugins, no update from the GUI. Finding out how to do the update from the CLI in the jail had also tied up a good deal of time, but also drew a blank, Seems that the method(S) have changed more than once in the last two years.

Again, much appreciated. I'm curious as to what goes on behind the scenes when you select "installed" tab on the plugins, because with Sabnzbd it will take a full 1 - 1.5 minutes to populate.

The only way I know is to delete the plugin/jail and start over. Is that not working for you?

Most (all?) of the plugins are maintained by a single volunteer, @Joshua Parker Ruehlig, so if the update isn't in the GUI, it's just because he hasn't got to it yet. I don't know whether it's a good idea to try to do the update from within the plugin jail.

Given your experience, you might be better off just creating a standard jail and installing the apps yourself. It's not as convenient to begin with, but it gives you more flexibility and control. In the case of these particular apps, putting them in a single jail makes a lot of sense.

sabnzbd updates differently then most of the other python based plugins (sickrage/couchpotato/etc..) since it doesn't have a built in autoupdate feature.
I'll get around to updated it soon, just been busy =\

as for installing sabnzbd in it's own jail as a port/package, I also maintain that now too so that still wouldn't get you v1.1.1 =P
you could always run from source though if you like.
