What hardware are you running?

I have been able to fix the issue by doing a factory restore and then upload my config.

but i would like to know what the cause could have been.

CPU amd phenom ii
Ram: 8GB ram

please advise if this information is what you need or if theirs more needed?

Regards

It could've been a bug, but we'll probably never know now
the only thing that had changed is i had my drive at 96 - 99% filled could that have been the issue?

but if it happens again i will leave it and get in contact.

Your best option is to create a debug file and post it here.

Sounds like you need to stop filling your pool.

I agree with tou there bit on another note samba still should not stop working.

And when you does you can access the pool? Un less you hace an other way to access the data to clean it up and remove data.

Let me be clear: You cannot fill your pool, otherwise your day will be ruined. Samba not working would be the least of your problems.

By not explaining your self dose not help the freenas community?

You could do a search by yourself to see why filling your pool above even 80% is not recommended. Doing a quick one I got these results:
freenas filling pool beyond 80%

There is a reason that a warning system has been built into FreeNAS for ages to warn users of this.
