Hello, I am brand new on the forums, so please forgive me if I have asked a question that has been answered. I have been searching the forums and google for an answer to resolve this issue but so far nothing has seemed to help. Hopefully, this is an easy question.
I have used FreeNAS for a while and have never had this issue until now. I just built a brand new box for our work file server. The hardware specs include:
1. (2) Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 v3 @ 2.60GHz
2. 128 GB of ECC Ram
3. (16) 3TB storage drives
4. (2) 480GB Logging drives
5. (1) 512GB Cache drive
6. Intel X540T2 NIC running LACP
7. Netgear GS752TP Managed switch
8. Cat 7 Cables
I am using FreeNAS-11.2-U7 and we are using the SMB service for our windows shares.
The issue that I am having is that when the user tries to access the file server before they have typed in their user credentials it takes upwards of 2 mins before the window pops up for them to type in their credentials. Once the window pops up and they have typed in there credentials then everything runs fine and they can browse easily. I have been looking everywhere for a solution and I can't seem to find one.
I have gone here (https://www.ixsystems.com/community/threads/cifs-directory-browsing-slow-try-this.27751/) and implemented all the suggestions but none of them seem to improve the performance at all. At least not noticeably.
My Auxiliary Parameters on SMB are:
I also went here (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Performance_Tuning), but none of it seemed to apply.
I ran a couple of network tests using iperf, results are below:
Test 1 results form computer using "-u -b 1000m"
Test 1 results from server using "-u -b 1000m"
Test 2 results form computer without any other parameters set.
Test 2 results from server
Thank you for your time and any advice is greatly appreciated.
